The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Secret Symphony program has become one of Melbourne’s favourite underground events since it was established four years ago. Driven solely by clues provided on social media, the event showcases musicians from the MSO performing in unexpected places around Melbourne. Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night was performed at MPavilion over two sessions.
Proudly supported by the City of Melbourne, past Secret Symphony events have included Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night at MPavilion, Schubert’s ‘Trout’ Quintet at Melbourne Aquarium, Trial by Jury performed at the Old Magistrate’s Court, and Messiaen’s Quartet to the End of Time at the Old Melbourne Gaol.
