Jack Charles is an actor, musician, potter, and Aboriginal elder. Born at Cummeragunja Mission on the Murray River, Jack was raised in a boys' home in Box Hill, suburban Melbourne, where he was the only indigenous child. Integral in the establishment of Indigenous theatre in Australia, he co-founded in 1971 Nindethana at The Pram Factory in Melbourne, Australia's first Indigenous theatre group. His screen credits include The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith (1978), Bedevil (1993), Blackfellas (1993) and the upcoming Pan (2015) with Hugh Jackman.
