After five years living in Japan, Bree Claffey developed an appreciation for artisan ceramics and Japanese aesthetics—particularly the simplicity, refinement, organic forms and beauty in imperfection that can be found in them. Since December 2010, Bree has run the thoughtfully curated Brunswick shop and gallery Mr Kitly, with input from her architect partner Julian Patterson. (The eponymous Mr Kitly is one of their cats.) Join us as she hosts a tea ceremony in collaboration with Melbourne’s new guard of ceramicists. Drink tea with the makers of wonderful ceramic vessels and other remarkable clay objects, and sit with us in shared appreciation of both mediums.
