Using techniques learned from his background in experimental music, Nathan Gray creates art that spans sculpture, performance and video. Recently, he’s focused on producing brief performances that use objects as scores for action, questioning our relationship with the objects and subverting the way we normally use them. Nathan has exhibited at Utopian Slumps, West Space, Gertrude Contemporary Project Space, the Narrows, the 2014 Biennale of Sydney, Margaret Lawrence Gallery, VCA, TarraWarra Museum of Art, Monash University Faculty Gallery, the University of Queensland Art Museum and the Horsham Regional Art Gallery. Nathan also won the 2014 Substation Contemporary Art Prize for his multi-channel video installation Species of Spaces (2013–14).
