Late of the lo-fi, early-psych-pop referencing Crayon Fields, suave sensualist Geoffrey O’Connor looks backwards to the ’80s for the sound of his maximalist dark-lit lounge synth-pop, but discards the braggadocio and empty refrains for lyric storytelling full of love unresolved, punishing or imperfect; belonging to all time. His second album, Fan Fiction, emerged to worldwide rapture in August 2014, on Chapter Music—where he also plays guitar in Ben Montero’s VHS-daydreams pop project Montero. His DJ sets are met with the same acclaim as his albums.
